๐Ÿ‰ What is Collagen?
Collagen is an essential protein in our body and has many important functions, including providing our skin with structure and strengthening our bone. However, as we age, our body produces less collagen resulting in wrinkles and dry skin.
.
๐Ÿ‰ The Benefits of Collagen Supplements
Collagen supplements aim to help support our bodyโ€™s natural collagen production and thereby slowing the aging of our skin. As a result, it may help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dryness of our skin.
.
๐Ÿ‰ Is Collagen Vegan?
Traditional collagen supplements are not vegan as collagen is primarily sourced from bovine and marine sources. Herbalandโ€™s vegan collagen boosters contain plant-based ingredients to promote the bodyโ€™s natural collagen production.

How? the term '๐šŒ๐š›๐šž๐šŽ๐š•๐š๐šข-๐š๐š›๐šŽ๐šŽ' is generally used to imply the products and its ingredients were not tested on animals, whereas the term '๐šŸ๐šŽ๐š๐šŠ๐š—' is generally used to imply the products do not contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products (like carmine, beeswax, lanolin, honey, etc.)
.
๐“ท๐“ธ๐“ฝ๐“ฎ: I'm saying 'generally' here because this is how the cosmetic industry is generally using these two terms, that's not to say these are ideal or perfect definitions and tbh, if it were up to me, there wouldn't be a difference as almost all animal-derived ingredients cannot be obtained in a 'cruelty-free' manner, but I digress.

Lโ€™Oreal does test on animals when required by law.

Dr. Hauschka Vegan Product List (2019)

Is Dr. Hauschka Cruelty-Free?

Answer:

Yes! Dr. Hauschka is cruelty-free; Dr. Hauschka does not test any of their products or ingredients on animals.

Dr. Hauschka is certified cruelty-free by PETA. They state on their website, “We assure you that no animal tests have ever been carried out by or on behalf of Dr. Hauschka Cosmetics, nor will this happen in the future – not for the Chinese market nor any other market anywhere.”

I’ve been a fan of Dr. Hauschka products because they prove that we don’t need any nasty chemicals or fillers in our skincare products in order for them to actually work and more importantly, we don’t need to test cosmetics or its ingredients on animals to prove that they’re safe for human use.

Dr. Hauschka is also very transparent about how the company works, what’s in their products, and where their raw ingredients are sourced. So it’s no surprise that they have provided a helpful list of their products that are vegan-friendly which you can find below.

I am surprised that a company such as Dr Hauschka, who has constructed their brand philosophy on Demeter biodynamic agriculture, would ever be considered cruelty free or vegan.
Biodinamic agriculture philosophie promotes animal sacrifice as part of a spiritual believes and has no scientific evidence to support any benefits of their practices, which are entirely spiritual.
Part of the process of biodynamic agriculture is to fill the horns of a local cow with manure, to sew flowers to deers bladder and to disperse field mice skin and insects ashes in the fieldโ€ฆ
It is strange that any organisation would accept this practice as a vegan or cruelty free !!

Thank you for your informative information about cruelty-free products. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter updating me on any products that do not contain animal products and are not tested on animals. I nee to build up a list of products available in South Africa so I can try them out myself and spread the news about them to others.

Appreciate all you are doing to help animals.

    Wishing you love and light.

Cruelty free and vegan are very different.
From their website: “Are your products vegan or vegetarian?
Dr. Hauschka Skin Care upholds holistic principals but does not ascribe to a vegetarian or vegan philosophy. Though we do no animal testing, several humanely obtained animal ingredients: lanolin, honey, propolis, beeswax, lactose and royal jelly are included in many Dr. Hauschka products. We also employ carmine and silk, two ingredients from insects.”

Yup. Cruelty-free and vegan mean two totally different things. That’s why this list that they’ve provided only includes products that are free of animal testing AND animal ingredients. This list of Dr. Hauschka products does not contain any lanolin, honey, beeswax, silk, carmine, etc.

Hope that clears things up for you! =)
