This is a bit of a controversial topic in the cruelty-free community. ๐Ÿฐ Throughout the years, many cruelty-free brands have been acquired and bought by parent corporations that are NOT cruelty-free.
.
๐‘’๐“๐’ถ๐“‚๐“…๐“๐‘’๐“ˆ:
โ˜ž Urban Decay acquired by L'Oreal in 2012
โ˜ž NYX acquired by L'Oreal in 2014
โ˜ž Hourglass acquired by Unilever in 2017
And in 2019:
โ˜ž TATCHA was acquired by Unilever
โ˜ž Drunk Elephant was acquired by Shiseido
โ˜ž Coty buys majority stake in Kylie Cosmetics
.
As a result, these initially 'cruelty-free' brands' animal testing policies have been called into question on whether they will remain committed to never testing on animals or they will conform and adopt their parent company's animal testing policies and start testing on animals ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ‡
.
๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Some ethical consumers have chosen to ๐™—๐™ค๐™ฎ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฉ๐™ฉ these cruelty-free brands that are owned by a parent company that tests on animals because they feel that their purchases may be indirectly funding and supporting the animal tests conducted or issued by the parent corporation.
.
๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ On the flip side, some cruelty-free shoppers choose to continue to ๐™จ๐™ช๐™ฅ๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฉ and purchase from these brands as they believe this will send a message to the parent corporations that being a cruelty-free brand matters to consumers and that it can also be a sustainable and profitable business decision and hopefully, this will influence the parent companies to go cruelty-free too! โœจ
.
Whether you decide to boycott or support these cruelty-free brands that are owned by a non-cruelty-free parent corporation is up to you! ๐Ÿ’• There is no "right" or "wrong" way to go cruelty-free. You do you! .
Here's a summary of some of the most popular cruelty-free brands that are owned by a corporation that is NOT cruelty-free. Please note: this is not a complete list.

Tired of hearing about how animal testing for cosmetics is STILL happening as we go into 2020? ๐Ÿ‡ choose cruelty-free and let your consumer dollars be a voice for the millions of innocent animals that are routinely blinded, poisoned, and killed each year for cosmetic testing! ๐Ÿ’— and be sure to tell brands that are still paying to have their products/ingredients tested on animals know that you wonโ€™t buy from them until they stop and go cruelty-free!! โœจ(๐Ÿ“ธ via @rabbit.ins.gram)

Secret Rendezvous – Color Club | Vegan Mani Monday

This post may contain affiliate links.

This week I’m wearing Secret Rendezvous by Color Club.

This nail polish looks like a pastel pink on their website but in person and in photos, Secret Rendezvous looks more like an off-white cream color with the slightest pink undertone.

I have on two even coats of Secret Rendezvous. This is a beautiful nude and neutral nail polish color that’ll look good on any skin tone and can be worn all year round!

Color Club is a US-based, female-owned and cruelty-free brand. All of their nail polish are 100% vegan, as well as,ย Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP and paraben-free – and made in New York, NY with the best raw materials.

Color Club is also one of the more affordable cruelty-free nail polish brands available, a bottle of their polish is around $8 but I’ve snagged this bottle, as well as, a couple more from Winners for $3/each!

What do you think about this week’s color?

โ€œMake ethical choices in what we buy, do, and watch. In a consumer-driven society our individual choices, used collectively for the good of animals and nature, can change the world faster than laws.โ€โ€• Marc Bekoff
