Molton Brown is cruelty-free, but Molton Brown is owned by Kao, a parent company that is NOT cruelty-free.
Not all of Molton Brown’s products are vegan but they have some vegan options.
Molton Brown’s products are manufactured in their own facility which allows them to have full control over their sourcing, carbon emissions, and waste management. Also, 100% of the electricity in their facility comes from renewable sources.
In addition, Molton Brown is committed to reducing their packaging and so far, they have implemented a Fragrance Refill Service, transition some of their products to be made from recycled materials, offer refill pouches of their hand soaps to use less plastic, pilot a ‘Return. Recycle. Reward’ scheme, and work with their hotel partners to reduce single-use plastics and use dispensers instead.

Molton Brown responded with their parent company, Kao’s mica sourcing policy and said they have a code of conduct that addresses respect for human rights and states they do not tolerate forced labor or child labor. But it’s not clear where Molton Brown’s mica is sourced or mined from.
Molton Brown fragrances are housed in glass bottles and they offer a Fragrance Refill Service (currently only available in the UK). They also claim later in 2020, their bath & body care products will be packaged in 50% recycled plastic. And Molton Brown offers refill pouches for their hand soaps which they claim uses 80% less plastic than their standard bottles.
Molton Brown is also currently piloting a ‘Return. Recycle. Reward’ scheme in six of their store locations. In addition, they’re working with their hotel partners to reduce single-use plastics and replacing them with dispensers instead.
