“It’s not about being perfect! And we don’t know any vegans who walk around saying that they are, or that they cause zero harm. Veganism doesn’t mean causing ZERO harm (that would be delusional)... but it definitely means causing a lot less of it!! And causing LESS harm than before (before being vegan) is definitely worth celebrating and continuing to advocate for.

Don’t let the vegan haters get you down. Usually the people pointing their fingers and trying to find a flaw in veganism are the ones who simply don’t understand it or don’t know what it takes to stand for something.” (Words by @vegan_boss, 📸 via @unmeatfuture)

Complete List of 100% Vegan Makeup & Skincare Brands

LAST UPDATED: FEB 17, 2020

A complete and updated list of 100% Vegan beauty brands!

What does it mean to be on this Vegan list?

First, companies must agree to never test their products or ingredients on animals and that includes refraining from selling their products in mainland China where compulsory animal testing is required for all imported cosmetics. Secondly, brands included on this list must only offer vegan products! This means absolutely no animal ingredients or by-products are used —in any of their products!

Some cruelty-free brands make claims that none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals and that most of their products are vegan with a few exceptions of products that contain beeswax, honey, or animal hair in their makeup brushes.

Don’t get me wrong – it’s great they have vegan options, but there are some other brands that make sure 100% of their products are entirely vegan. These 100% vegan beauty brands are the ones that we want to especially highlight in this list.

Why support these Vegan brands?

If given the option, I’d rather buy from a company that is 100% vegan over a brand claiming, “90% of our products are vegan” and that’s because (1) My support proves that consumers care and see value in an all-vegan company and (2) it proves to the rest of the world that running a 100% vegan company is totally sustainable and profitable!

I often praise other beauty brands for offering a list of vegan products but the brands on this list are all 100% vegan and intend to always be vegan! I hope with this list, you’ll get to discover from all the awesome and growing vegan makeup and beauty brands!

100% Vegan Makeup

Some makeup brands claim to be cruelty-free where none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals, however, their products may contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. Some common animal products found in makeup include carmine, beeswax, pearl powder, animal-derived fatty acids, and animal hair used for makeup brushes. The following vegan makeup brands do not test on animals and do not use any animal-derived ingredients or by-products in any of their products.

100% Vegan Skincare Brands

Some skincare brands claim to be cruelty-free where none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals, however, their products may contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. Some animal products commonly found in skincare include lanolin, beeswax, royal jelly, honey, collagen, silk amino acids, snail mucin, milk-derivatives, and squalene from fish liver oil.

Below is a list of vegan skincare brands that do not test on animals and do not use animal-derived ingredients or by-products in any of their products. Brands listed here offer a range of skincare products for face & body, personal care products, and bath & body care products.

100% Vegan Hair Care Brands

Some hair care brands claim to be cruelty-free where none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals, however, their products may contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. Some common animal ingredients found in hair care products include keratin, biotin and silk amino acids.

100% Vegan Nail Polish Brands

Some nail polish brands claim to be cruelty-free where none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals, however, their products may contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. Some common animal ingredients found in nail polish and nail care products include guanine, shellac, pearl-derivatives, keratin, and biotin.

Below is a list of nail polish brands that do not test on animals and do not use animal-derived ingredients or by-products in any of their products.

100% Vegan Brushes & Tools

Some makeup brush brands claim to be “cruelty-free” yet use natural animal hair bristles for their brushes. Although companies claim this process is done in a cruelty-free manner and the animals are not harmed, we do not support the practice of taking an animals’ fur in order to make makeup brushes. Below is a list of vegan makeup brush brands that agree with us by only offering makeup brushes made with synthetic bristles.

100% Vegan Beauty Boxes

Discover new cruelty-free and vegan beauty products by subscribing to one of the following monthly or quarterly beauty boxes! Some cruelty-free beauty boxes only include products from brands that don’t test on animals and are not always vegan. However, this list of vegan beauty boxes makes sure to only and always include products that are both not tested on animals and don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products!

100% Vegan Fragrance Brands

The following vegan fragrance brands do not test on animals and do not use any animal-derived ingredients or by-products in their perfumes or any of their other products.

If I may add, the list you have as ‘vegan’ are toxic as well. Lol.

Lol. Just because a brand claims to be ‘vegan’ doesn’t mean it’s clean. I’d rather look for a clean product that goes to China than support ‘vegan’ brands just because ‘I have a limited idea of veganism movement’ and by supporthing these vegan products, I am feeling good about myself and the Earth.’ Hey girl, live some more. There are too many problems on this earth than focusing on brands that are supposedly CLEAN but aren’t. Better get your act together and not be a total hypocrite. I would love you disclose the sanitary napkin you are using. With all the horror, you will realize how fucked up this world is, and espousing your elitist veganism is hypocrisy. You’re just being used by the U.N.

Kat von D no longer on the list?

    • Vicky Ly
      June 24, 2019

      Hey Tiffaine!
Thanks for reminding me to add Kat Von D Beauty to this list now. In the past, a couple of their products (some shades of eyeshadows and collab product with Too Faced) contained carmine, but Kat Von D and her team have now successfully reformulated or discontinued those products. So Kat Von D Beauty is finally an entirely 100% vegan brand now! YAY!
