SB 241, sponsored by Senator Linda Holmes (D-Aurora) and signed by Governor J.B. Pritzker on August 9, prohibits the import or sale of any cosmetic if the final product or any ingredient was tested on animals after January 1, 2020.
Last year, California became the first state to enact β€œhumane cosmetics” legislation, followed by Nevada in June. Illinois’ new law provides additional incentives for cosmetics companies to invest in non-animal alternatives to help them stay competitive in a changing global market while sparing animals from painful tests. Vegan Cuts Fall 2018 Makeup Box

Each quarter of Vegan Cuts Makeup Boxes are curated to match each season and for this Fall makeup box, I received some awesome goodies that I can’t wait to try out!

Axiology Vegan Lip Crayon ($26)

I’ve been meaning to try something from Axiology for some time now so I was thrilled to see their vegan lip crayon in this season’s Vegan Cuts Makeup Box! I received the color Valor which is described as a marsala red-wine color with a matte finish. It is a smooth formula, extremely high-pigmented, long-wearing, and although it’s a matte formula.. it’s very comfortable to wear on the lips. I prefer wearing this lip crayon over liquid lipsticks any day!

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Brow Trio ($21)

A vegan trio brow powder palette. This is a tiny palette, no brush included. It contains a dark brown shade, a light brown shade, and a highligher shade. This palette didn’t really work for my brows. I think my eyebrow hairs are too long and coarse for brow powder, I typically use pencil or gel. The highlighter shade ended up looking chalky on me and the two brown shades were too light for my brows.

Au Naturale Pore Minimizing Finishing Powder ($26)

I’ve never seen or used a vegan finishing powder that wasn’t in a compact or in a jar before, so this was really cool to try out! The instructions says you can spray the powder directly onto a fluffy makeup brush or on the back of your hands. I prefer to spray it on the brush because it’s easier and mess-free. This is a translucent finishing powder that is very fine and airy in texture. Blends nicely, I’m definitely keeping this in my purse to help combat shine throughout the day!

Aesthetica Color Correcting Concealer ($18)

This isn’t a brand I’m familiar with but I’ve really wanted to try a vegan color correcting palette before so it was a nice treat to see one included in this makeup box!Β  It’s a cream color correcting palette that contains 4 different neutralizing hues to help cover and conceal any skin imperfections. Since I’m still a newb to color correcting, I don’t have much to say or review for this particular palette. But my only gripe with it is that it’s so hard to open, it feels like it’s child-proof or something! or maybe it’s just Vicky-proof…

MOTD Rose Gold Vegan Leather Canvas Bag ($27)

I’m a HUGE fan of MOTD’s cruelty-free, vegan makeup brushes so I absolutely adored this makeup bag. It’s super adorable and chic with the rose gold and white canvas. It’s also the perfect size to carry your beauty essentials around.

Whether you’re just starting your cruelty-free and vegan journey or you’re a long-time vegan beauty veteran and enjoy trying out new and exciting products, I would definitely recommend subscribing to Vegan Cut’s quarterly makeup boxes! It’s a fun and easy way to discover and sample vegan makeup products without having to do any work or leave the house! =)
