There’s only one more week till Christmas and last week, I received Nourish Beauty’s December cruelty-free and vegan beauty box which came with this stunning shimmery Christmas green nail polish!
The color is called ‘Stay Real‘ and it’s a water-based nail polish that’s also cruelty-free, vegan, and formulated without formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, parabens, xylene, camphor, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfates, gluten, phenoxyethanol, lead, nitrocellulose, GMOs and animal-derived ingredients.
This is the first water-based nail polish I’ve tried and you can definitely tell that it is different! There’s none of that chemical smell that we’re used to with conventional nail polish and the formula is a lot thicker and glue-like. This is a step in the right direction for the health of my nails. I had been using the more chemically versions of varnish until now and I think this new version will be much better for my nails. I started noticing them becoming weaker and discolored from the old varnish I used so I have started taking bamboo silica supplement and now this varnish is a good alternative to the chemical-filled varnish.
Claims: “The ultimate, ultra gentle nail varnish formulation with a revolutionary water-based resin that creates a high shine coating that is both air and water permeable. This allows for oxygen and water to reach the nail bed to help nails stay healthy, stronger and to help reduce discoloration. The unique nourishing formulation provides a super high-shine coat, long-lasting color and a fast-drying finish.”
In the photo above, I have only one coat of Stay Real by Nourish Nails without a top coat. It’s incredibly pigmented and when I first tried this nail polish, I applied 2 coats but it didn’t really make much of a difference in color opacity and I found that it took way too long to dry when you have 2 coats. So this is definitely a one-coat full coverage nail polish!
Even with one coat, it does take a while to dry. I tried using a glossy top coat but that made the polish move around and it even removed some of the color off my nails, and my top coat brush was covered in the green polish after. So, I wouldn’t recommend a top coat unless it has completely dried down.
The pearlescent shimmer combined with the bright green is so appropriate as a Christmas nail color!
