List of Cruelty-Free Brands at Sephora | 2024 UPDATE!

Shopping at Sephora but wondering which brands are cruelty-free and vegan? In this List of Cruelty-Free Brands at Sephora, you’ll be able to find out which brands are cruelty-free and don’t test on animals, as well as, which brands are 100% vegan where none of their products contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products.

About this list: I went through Sephora US & Canada’s entire brand directory list of over 300+ brands and vetted each company using our Cruelty-Free Checklist to determine if they test on animals at any stage of product development and manufacturing, anywhere in the world.

In order to be classified as Cruelty-Free, brands must meet all of the criteria in our Cruelty-Free Checklist including not selling their products in mainland China under conditions that would trigger animal tests.

This brand is not cruelty-free; tests on animals
This brand is cruelty-free!; does not test on animals (may or may not be a 100% vegan brand)
This brand is cruelty-free but is either owned by a parent company that does test on animals or doesn’t offer any vegan options
I received a response from this brand but am not 100% satisfied with the information provided to claim if they’re cruelty-free or not
Vegan! – This brand only offers vegan products; no animal-derived ingredients or by-products

    1. Hey Michelle,
I received a response from DevaCurl that was a little unclear and ambiguous which is why I marked them as being not cruelty-free but I just changed their status to a question mark as it’s not really clear if they do or do not test on animals.

DevaCurl products may or may not be tested on animals when required by law.

Phyrra has an amazing post on her site where she walks us through her response from DevaCurl.. I received a somewhat similar response from them recently. Read it here: https://phyrra.net/is-devacurl-cruelty-free.html

  1. Hi, Vicky! Firstly, thank you so much for making this list. It can definitely be an inconvenience to ensure that all the different cosmetics I buy are cruelty-free, but the sacrifice is absolutely worth it. I wanted to try out Huda Beauty’s makeup, but as I was researching whether or not they were cruelty-free, I found that they sell mink fur false eyelashes. The real mink falsies aren’t available on Sephora (they’re on the brand website). By technicality Huda can still call its makeup cruelty-free, since they apparently don’t test their products on animals. But I hope you’ll agree that any company involved in fur trades (even if they try to insist that the fur is cruelty-free *eye roll*) doesn’t deserve any cruelty-free credit at all. If your own research gets you the same results that mine did, please change Huda Beauty’s status on this list, or at least add a note that the brand does sell real fur products.

  2. Hello!

Does anyone know if “Clean” fragrances available at Sephora are cruelty free and vegan friendly? Thank you!
