Pretty Vulgar is a vintage-inspired makeup and beauty brand but is Pretty Vulgar cruelty-free, vegan, or sustainable? I’ve got the answers here!
Is Pretty Vulgar Cruelty-Free?
Pretty Vulgar is Cruelty-free! None of Pretty Vulgar’s ingredients, formulations, or finished products are tested on animals, anywhere in the world.
Pretty Vulgar Animal Testing Policy
Pretty Vulgar has confirmed they do not test their products or ingredients on animals or ask others to test on their behalf. Their suppliers also do not test on animals nor do they allow their products to be tested on animals when required by law. And finally, their products are not sold in stores in mainland China or any other country that may require animal testing.
Below is a screenshot of Pretty Vulgar’s official animal testing statement:
In addition, I emailed Pretty Vulgar to ask for more information about their animal testing policy. The following is a snippet of their response:
“Pretty Vulgar is 100% Cruelty Free, we do not and will not conduct animal testing on any ingredient or formulation. And we will not purchase any ingredient or formulation from a 3rd party manufacturer or supplier that does so either.”
Is Pretty Vulgar Sold in China?
Most imported cosmetics sold in mainland China are required by law to be tested on animals in 2021. However, Pretty Vulgar has confirmed they do not sell their products in retail stores in mainland China and therefore they are not required to test on animals.
Here is Pretty Vulgar’s response when I asked if their products are sold in China:
“We are currently only sold in the US and Canada! So no.”
Is Pretty Vulgar Vegan?
Not all of Pretty Vulgar’s products are vegan as some of their products contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. However, Pretty Vulgar does have some vegan options.
Below is a list of Pretty Vulgar vegan products.
You can also find out which of their products are vegan as they’re all marked accordingly on their website in the product description. See below for an example.
Pretty Vulgar Vegan Product List

Is Pretty Vulgar’s Mica Ethically-Sourced? Pretty Vulgar did not address whether their mica is ethically-sourced without the use of child labor when I asked them. It’s not clear where their mica is mined or sourced from and how they track or audit to ensure no child labor was involved.
“All of our products are absolutely cruelty free in every sense. Please see our mindful cosmetics page on our website (https://www.prettyvulgar.com/pages/mindful-cosmetics) which talks about our mindful cosmetics journey.”
I hope this article helped you to understand Pretty Vulgar’s cruelty-free and vegan status and by choosing cruelty-free together, we can help end animal testing for cosmetics once and for all!
