Moroccanoil Animal Testing Policy

Moroccanoil has confirmed they do not test their products or ingredients on animals or ask others to test on their behalf. Their suppliers also do not test on animals nor do they allow their products to be tested on animals when required by law. And finally, their products are not sold in stores in mainland China or any other country that may require animal testing.

Below is a snippet of the response I received from Moroccaoil:

Thank you for reaching out to us with your inquiry and your interest in Moroccanoil. We are wholeheartedly committed to never testing our products on animals, nor do we ever commission third parties to conduct animal testing on our behalf. As an independent company, we conduct testing exclusively through volunteer panels, and always ask our suppliers to provide us with a statement confirming they do not conduct animal testing. Moroccanoil incorporates only the highest quality ingredients in all of our formulas, each of which comply with the strictest of cosmetic regulations in over 60 countries where our products are available. We do not sell our products in mainland China.

Is Moroccanoil Sold in China?

All imported cosmetics sold in mainland China are required by law to be tested on animals. However, Moroccanoil has confirmed they do not sell their products in retail stores in mainland China and therefore they are not required to test on animals.

Moroccanoil has met all of our criteria in our Cruelty-Free Checklist.

Is Moroccanoil Vegan?

Currently, Moroccanoil does not claim to offer any vegan products.

The following is the response I received from Moroccanoil when I asked if any of their products are vegan that don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products:

Thank you for reaching out to us! Moroccanoil incorporates only the highest quality ingredients in all of our formulas, each of which comply with the strictest of cosmetic regulations in over 60 countries where our products are available. We cannot claim to have vegan products, as it is possible that these formulas may contain or could have come into contact with traces of egg or dairy.

Moroccanoil is Cruelty-Free, but Not Vegan

Moroccanoil is cruelty-free and doesn’t test on animals. However, Moroccanoil does not currently offer any vegan options therefore Moroccanoil is not included on our List of Cruelty-Free & Vegan Brands Directory.

In order for brands to be included in our Cruelty-Free List, they must be cruelty-free and offer some vegan products.

For vegan-friendly alternatives to Moroccanoil hair treatment, we recommend checking out Playa, Olaplex, Virtue, Briogeo.

I hope this article helped you to understand Moroccanoil’s cruelty-free and vegan status and by choosing cruelty-free together, we can help end animal testing for cosmetics once and for all!
