Bite Beauty is now officially 100% vegan! 🌱✨ @bitebeauty recently reformulated all of their products and has removed all animal-derived ingredients and by-products (like lanolin, beeswax, and carmine) from their entire collection. 🙌🏻
However, it should be noted that their Lip Lab is not completely vegan, yet! They’re working on making it vegan in the near future. 🌿💖
Bite Beauty's Vegan Statement:
"Yes, Bite Beauty products are vegan.
Our reason to go vegan was simple-we’ve evolved. We can create high-performance formulas without ingredients that come from animals. As we’ve been innovating with superfoods, we’ve learned we can get amazing results that perform on par with-if not better than-formulas that contain animal byproducts.
Further, we wanted to create products everyone can love-including people who crave clean, cruelty-free and vegan beauty."

I just finished reading ‘Slave to Fashion’ by @safia_minney 📚 and it has completely changed my perspective on the true cost of cheap clothes. ✨ Definitely a must-read to understanding modern slavery in the fashion industry and the need to support fair trade and ethical brands that are transparent about how their products are made with respect for people and the planet. 🌍🌿
"Today, a whole generation of shoppers expect to be able to buy cheap clothing - but these low prices are only possible because of the slavery and exploitation that exist in the fashion supply chain.
The price of clothes does not reflect the true cost to the farmers, spinners and weavers, tailors, finishers, quality-control teams and packers who are underpaid and overworked in the race to get the latest fashion items into our stores.
Many of them are forced to live and work in shocking conditions.
Workers in developing countries are often left helpless by a lack of workplace representation and unions that could speak up for their rights. As a result, we are witnessing a global 'race to the bottom', with developing countries competing against each other to supply the cheapest labor in a bid to attract brands to their factories."

So-called “Cruelty-free” products have become increasingly popular in the last couple of years, but let’s take a step back and ask, what exactly does it mean when cosmetics, personal care, and household cleaning products are labeled as “cruelty-free”?
Products that are labeled as “Cruelty-Free” generally means they weren’t tested on animals, however, there is no standard or legal definition as to what is and isn’t allowed to be labeled as “cruelty-free”. So companies can call themselves and their products “cruelty-free” and it can mean whatever THEY want.
Misleading? — Yes.
Illegal? — No.
The FDA, responsible for regulating cosmetics labeling in the US, states on its website, “Consumers sometimes ask about use of claims such as “Cruelty-Free” or “Not Tested on Animals” on cosmetic labeling. Some cosmetic companies promote their products with claims of this kind in their labeling or advertising. The unrestricted use of these phrases by cosmetic companies is possible because there are no legal definitions for these terms.”
Unrestricted Use. No Legal Definition. — “Cruelty-Free” is now being used as a buzzword by marketers wanting to cash in on the trend.
But not ALL cruelty-free companies are liars and imposters. Some brands are genuinely committed to not testing their finished products and ingredients on animals, anywhere in the world.
But HOW do we know which cosmetic brands are telling the truth and are truly cruelty-free in 2020?
❶ Ask brands if their products or ingredients are tested on animals either by the company, their ingredient suppliers or commissioned to a third party and if they allow animal testing when required by law.
❷ Look for @leapingbunnyprogram brands --the most trusted cruelty-free certification program available!
❸ Check @ethicalelephant’s Cruelty-Free Brand Directory List where we have verified each and every brand's cruelty-free status before we list them (link in bio!)
Together, we can end animal testing for cosmetics once and for all!
Thank you for choosing cruelty-free! 🐘 💕

“It’s not about being perfect! And we don’t know any vegans who walk around saying that they are, or that they cause zero harm. Veganism doesn’t mean causing ZERO harm (that would be delusional)... but it definitely means causing a lot less of it!! And causing LESS harm than before (before being vegan) is definitely worth celebrating and continuing to advocate for.

Don’t let the vegan haters get you down. Usually the people pointing their fingers and trying to find a flaw in veganism are the ones who simply don’t understand it or don’t know what it takes to stand for something.” (Words by @vegan_boss, 📸 via @unmeatfuture)

LaRitzy Vegan Beauty Box - June 2016

This is a bittersweet post to write because LaRitzy recently announced they’ll be ending their monthly curated vegan beauty box subscription and will be soon launching their own line of cruelty-free cosmetics!

But as always, LaRitzy does a fabulous job of curating each month’s box and their June 2016 box did not disappoint!

So I thought I’d continue to share what was inside with you all and if you’re like me and eagerly waiting for news about their new launch, be sure to sign up to their newsletter to get updates, here.

You can also still sign up for their “Mystery Box” where you’ll receive 3 or more products with a total value of over $50 but you only pay a one-time price of $15! Get the details, here.

LaRitzy June 2016 Vegan Beauty Box

LaRitzy Beauty Box - Josie & Hue Clay Mask

“The White” Clay Mask by Josie & Hue ($22)

Lately I’ve been on a serious clay mask kick! I think they work the best for my oily, acne-prone skin type so I was pumped to see a clay mask in this month’s box!

Josie & Hue have 4 different clay mask options but I received “The White” one which is a nourishing and firming mask aim to “clean, tone, and smooth your skin with its collagen benefits”

I’ve used it once already and it’s just like a traditional clay mask and so far so good! As an initial first impression, it left my skin feeling really soft! However, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the particular smell that came off when I mixed the powder with water. It had this sort of sour smell to it. I might try mixing it with another liquid that they recommended on their website for the next time I use it!

LaRitzy June 2016 - Filled with lots of vegan makeup products

Bronzer & Highlighter Split Pan by Manna Kadar ($21)

When I saw on Instagram that this split pan was going to be included in this month’s box, I was really excited but then I saw how small it was and thought, how’s a girl suppose to get her brush in that??

I swirled the smallest blush brush I could find into the pan and swept it on my cheeks–WHOA! This stuff is hella pigmented! Proving again not to judge something based on its size! Both the highlighter and bronzer are BEAUTIFUL and incredibly smooth and velvety. I know I’m gonna hit pan on this split pan real soon!

Pro Matte Eyeshadow by Concrete Minerals ($9)

I got the eyeshadow in the color Bandit which is described as a soft dusty rose. OH MY! This is what I forever dreamed of in a mineral eyeshadow. It’s matte, nude, incredibly pigmented, and long-lasting! For a while, I was trying to get into mineral eyeshadows but didn’t feel that they were long-wearing, this is a game changer and I’m on Concrete Minerals’ website right now looking at all of their other eyeshadow colors!

LaRitzy - OFRA Eyeliner Pencil

Eyeliner Pencil by OFRA Cosmetics ($13)

Any beauty box that includes an eyeliner is already a winner in my eyes! Especially if it’s vegan and cruelty-free because a good vegan eyeliner is hard to come by! and this OFRA eyeliner pencil is definitely a winner. It’s creamy and glides on smoothly but best of all, it’s water resistant!

LaRitzy - Smash Ash Tooth Whitening Powder Sample

Smart Ash Teeth Whitening Powder (Sample)

God Damn, this stuff is messy! Note to self: Don’t wear white when trying to open this ever again! I’ve heard some ahhhmazing things about using a tooth whitening powder and this one in particular from Bedrock & Bloom claims to not only help whiten your teeth but it’s also supposed to help strengthen and remineralize your teeth too! It’s worth talking to a professional, like this Dentist in Little Falls, before trying any teeth whitening products at home. All teeth are different and certain teeth might not be suited to some of the ingredients.

I’m actually using another teeth whitening product right as recommended by my dentist which I plan on doing a full review on so I’ll have to put off on using this until I’m done with the other one! =) Finding the right teeth whitening product can be difficult for you since there are so many different types of products out there for you to choose from. If you would like to know more about the various products available or if you are worried about using them, you may want to visit your local dental practice similar to this Dentist in Fishers with any questions you may have.

Final Words on LaRitzy’s June 2016 Beauty Box

Although this month’s box was mostly filled with makeup products, I think LaRitzy did a fab job of including the perfect shades and products that were versatile enough to be used on any skin type and tone! I personally loved all 3 of the vegan makeup products!!

Have you tried any of these cruelty-free and vegan products included in this month’s LaRitzy beauty box?
