Rituals is cruelty-free. None of Rituals’s ingredients, formulations, or finished products are tested on animals, anywhere in the world.
Not all of Rituals’s products are vegan but they have some vegan options.
Rituals is committed to using responsibly-sourced ingredients including certified Palm Oil. They also ensure their rinse-off formulas are readily biodegradable and do not harm the environment. Also, Rituals’ purchases renewable energy for their headquarters in Amsterdam and for their stores in the Netherlands. In addition, Rituals is committed to making their packaging more sustainable, including making them 100% recyclable and increasing the amount of recycled materials used.

Ritual’s goal is to work towards zero waste by 2025 by making all of their products recyclable or refillable.
Rituals claims their mica is sourced from India following “strict social and environmental standards.” However, it’s not clear what exactly these “strict” standards are and if child labor is strictly prohibited.
Rituals products come in plastic packaging but some are made with recycled materials and they’re committed to increasing the amount of recycled materials used for their packaging. Rituals also offers several refill packs for their hand wash, fragrance sticks, and body cream.

Additionally, Ritual’s goal is to work towards zero waste by 2025 by making all of their products recyclable or refillable.

Ethical Mica Sourcing Policy

I asked Rituals if their mica is ethically sourced without forced or child labor and they responded stating, 

“Regarding the question about Mica, is an ingredient coming from mines in a specific region in India, following strict social and environmental standards.”
