I hope everyone is staying safe and staying home in the midst of these chaotic and uncertain times.
I wanted to give you an update on what I’ll be working on in the next upcoming weeks so that you’re all in the loop because we’ll all in this together — whether it’s to fight the spread of the virus or to fight for a global end for animal testing.
If you didn’t know, our Cruelty-Free Brand List is updated regularly. I’m always adding newly approved cruelty-free and some vegan brands to the list, and in the rare occasion, removing brands that are no longer cruelty-free. — Physicians Formula and Wet N Wild are a few that I was sad to recently remove.
I will continue to keep the list as updated as possible with any industry changes or when new information becomes available.
In addition, I will be working on updating and refining the list in the upcoming weeks and I’ll try my best to keep you all in the loop on why certain brands were removed.
To start, I removed all cruelty-free brands that are no longer operating or have been inactive and/or nonresponsive on social media since the start of 2020.
Some of the cruelty-free brands I was sad to see closed were:
- Hugo Naturals
- Nature’s Gate
- Model’s Own
- KL Polish
- Afterglow Cosmetics
- Wrenn Polish – retiring soon!
There were also a couple of cruelty-free brands that have changed their company name — Primal Pit Paste is now Pretty Frank, I made sure to reach out to them again to reconfirm their cruelty-free commitment.
For the handful of cruelty-free brands that haven’t posted on their social media since the start of 2020, I decided to remove them from the list simply because I think it’s important for brands to keep in touch with their customers and to ensure those lines of communications (even on social media) are always open and encouraged.
In addition to brands having to verify their animal testing policies in order to be listed, we will also start to consider other ethical, environmental, and social standards in an effort to promote brands that are consciously making an effort to do better for people, animals, and the planet.
