Hunter is known for its iconic Original Wellington Boot and the Scotland-based footwear brand has expanded its collection and now offers a wide selection of boots and other styles. And I wanted to know if any of them, especially its iconic Hunter Boots, are vegan?
So I asked the footwear brand and in this post, I’m sharing what they told me. If you were wondering the same thing, then I hope this article helps to answer some of your lingering questions!
Let’s start by asking if Hunter Boots uses animal-based or synthetic glues in their shoes?
Does Hunter Use Animal-Based Glues?
Currently, not all glues used to make shoes are vegan. Some glues may be made from animal collagen or animal by-products. Vegan shoe glue is usually synthetic or water-based.
Because this information is rarely disclosed on the brand’s website or the shoe label itself, I asked Hunter about the source of their glues. They responded stating,
“We can confirm that there is no animal-based glues in any of our shoes or products.”
Great news to hear that Hunter uses non-animal-based glues to make their boots and shoes!
Now we can ask, does Hunter offer any vegan footwear made without animal materials?
Are Hunter Boots Vegan?
In addition to the glue, you also want to avoid shoes made with animal materials like fur, leather, suede, or wool when looking for vegan shoes.
Hunter confirms its rubber rain boots are vegan as their made with a natural rubber material. In fact, Hunter claims that they currently have 278 styles that are certified 100% vegan!
“Increasingly, we are being asked which products within the Hunter collection are vegan shoes or vegan boots. Because of our commitment to using natural rubber, many of our iconic and best-selling rain boots are, in fact, already vegan shoes.

So in addition to Hunter’s rubber boots, they offer a great selection of other styles of vegan boots and footwear.
